Huge Vancouver Lower Mainland Ballroom

Huge Vancouver Lower Mainland Ballroom

Are you looking for a huge ballroom for a Lower Mainland wedding reception, but you DON’T want one of those dingy old halls with ratty carpets that smells like your uncle’s armpits?

Well, you’re in luck!

A new, modern ballroom has been constructed in an area that is central for many wedding receptions in the Vancouver Lower Mainland. The venue can seat up to 500 guests — WITH room for dancing!

And the best part is… though this venue will provide the food for your wedding reception, you can bring your own alcohol. This will be a HUGE cost savings for most weddings!

Outdoor Weddings in Vancouver: Tips for Rainy Wedding Days!

Monday, November 16th, 2009

If you live in Vancouver or anywhere in the Lower Mainland, then you know that your wedding day might be a rainy one — whether you’re getting married in November or August.

Of course, some times of year in Vancouver are better than others if you’re planning an outdoor wedding in Vancouver... and anything but the summer months will likely be too chilly anyway.

But whether your wedding will be in the Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter, you risk having a rainy wedding day.

But don’t dispair! It’s not “ironic” to have rain on your wedding day, as Alanis Morrisette would have you believe. In fact, some even say it’s a good omen of fertility for your marriage! ;)

Here are some tips for what to do if you have a rainy wedding day:

  • Check the forecast in advance so you know what kind of weather to expect on your wedding day.
  • Always ensure you have a back-up plan in case of rain — do NOT plan an outdoor event without a tented or indoor option, at any time of year, for a Vancouver wedding.
  • Consider having a number of umbrellas on hand for guests to use to get from place to place (parking area to reception hall, for example).
  • Consider having your groomsmen or ushers escort guests through the rain with umbrellas.
  • Make sure you have a large golf umbrella for yourself so that your wedding dress doesn’t get wet! The bigger the umbrella, the better!
  • Consider wearing outdoor shoes when you’re travelling through the rain, then put your beautiful wedding shoes on when you’re safely indoors. You wouldn’t want to step in a puddle in satin bridal shoes!

Winter Weddings in the Vancouver Lower Mainland

Friday, October 16th, 2009

The most popular months for weddings in the Vancouver Lower Mainland are the spring and summer months, especially June through September — but most wedding venues consider May through October their “peak season” (i.e., the most expensive wedding and reception venue rental rates!!)

Brides thinking about having a winter wedding in the Vancouver Lower Mainland have a lot of lovely options open to you. The following list includes some great reasons why you might want to have a winter wedding — PLUS tips on how to pull it off in style…

  1. Winter weddings can be less expensive! If you avoid the few weeks around Christmas, a winter wedding at most Vancouver Lower Mainland wedding and reception venues can be significantly less expensive than a spring or summer wedding.
  2. Winter weddings can “piggyback” on the holiday season! If you decide to have your winter wedding after Christmas or New Year’s Eve at a banquet hall or reception facility, chances are they will have some pointsettas, candles, ribbons, wreaths, and other decorations that you could use for your event.
  3. Winter weddings can be cozy and unique! Consider compementing your winter wedding theme with details like ice wine… luxurious comfort foods… sparkling snowflake and silvery accents… perhaps an ice scultpure… You can also reuse those gold and silver balls from your Christmas tree — fill vases with them for immediate impact!
  4. Winter weddings mean… Winter honeymoons! Though winter can be cozy and romantic, it’s also a great time to go somewhere hot and sunny for a vacation with your new husband! On the other hand, if you have a summer wedding, why go to a sunny beach when the weather’s perfectly good at home?

Don’t think you need to be restricted by time of year when planning your wedding. With the right wedding and reception venue, you can have a wonderful winter wedding!

Lower Mainland Wedding Venues: Is it cheaper to get married at home?!

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Many brides balk at the prices of some of the more popular Lower Mainland wedding venues — where room rental fees alone can be multiple thousands of dollars… and that’s BEFORE you add the cost of expensive catering, staffing fees, AND bar alcohol prices!

Well, when you get married at home, you certainly do save on the cost of your Lower Mainland wedding venue rental. AND you save on the cost of alcohol prices charged by licensed venues that typically charge upwards of $5 per drink!!!!

HOWEVER… before you get excited about all these cost savings, consider this: When you get married at home, you need to rent EVERYTHING.

Most people do not have enough tables and chairs for a wedding reception, so you’ll need to rent them. And every champagne glass, wine glass, and water glass. Every fork. Every salt shaker. Linens. Decorations. Table numbers.

If you’re doing an outdoor wedding ceremony or reception, you’ll want to rent tents (which can cost more than a thousand dollars EACH to rent!). Maybe heat lamps. Lighting. A sound system. A dance floor.

PLUS, you’ll still need to pay for expensive catering and staffing! (Unless you have really nice family and friends who want to do all the cooking for your reception!!!!)

At most Lower Mainland wedding venues, the furniture, table settings, and some of the linens will be provided for you. You won’t need to rent all the extras — like table numbers and salt shakers. You won’t need to rent tents, lighting, dance floor, etc. You won’t need to worry about having enough power for your lighting and sound system so you don’t blow a fuse in the middle of your first dance (LOL! Can you imagine?!?).

And if you pick the right venue, you can still bring your own alcohol — and avoid the exorbitantly expensive rates that many Lower Mainland wedding venues charge per drink.

Finding the perfect Vancouver reception venue can be TOUGH!!!

You’ve probably already noticed that 99.99% of the local so-called “Wedding Directories” actually cater to advertisers — NOT brides!   Vancouver and Lower Mainland wedding businesses pay exhorbinant fees to get listed in these wedding guides… fees that many smaller, more unique wedding venues and service providers simply can’t afford.

So it’s the same 25-50 wedding venues that appear in all of these directories… over and over and OVER!

But guess what brides?

These are NOT your only options for Vancouver reception venues!

There are TONS of really unique, breathtakingly romantic reception venues scattered all across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, just waiting to be discovered by you.  Art galleries, B&Bs, Heritage Buildings, Ocean-front Halls, Lodges, and MORE!

And to help you find YOUR perfect Vancouver reception venue, we’ve created this MASSIVE Wedding Venue Directory — dedicated to local brides across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

No paid advertising here!  Which means both budget brides AND 5-star-luxury brides will find Vancouver reception venues (including the entire Lower Mainland!) and ceremony sites suited to your taste.

MyPerfectWedding.ca Launches!

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Hi brides!! We’re SO excited to announce the launch of MyPerfectWedding.ca!

You know, this project has been in the works for many years… When we both got married, many years ago (LOL), we both had a heck of a time finding the right place to get married.

Jenn ended up finding a great place in Victoria but it took her MANY MANY hours and weeks! And Liberty wound up getting married at her parent’s house in Vancouver – which was great, but a LOT of work (you basically have to rent everything but the blades of grass!!!).

Since then, we’ve both helped tons of friends and cousins and sisters and brothers find the right Vancouver wedding venues to get hitched. And all that time, we just knew that something had to be done about how darn TOUGH it is to find the right venue that suits the style, location, budget, and “feel” of YOUR unique wedding.

Your wedding is such an amazing, profound right of passage in your life, and it’s just so important that you’re completely thrilled with your special day. And the right setting can make all the difference.

So here we are, years later, and THRILLED to finally be able to say: “Welcome to our Vancouver wedding venue resource guide for brides in the Vancouver Lower Mainland!”

The resource guide includes wedding ceremony and wedding reception venues in:

- Vancouver
- North Vancouver
- West Vancouver
- Burnaby
- Richmond
- Delta
- Ladner
- Langley
- Fort Langley
- Tsawwassen
- Surrey
- White Rock
- Coquitlam
- Port Coquitlam
- Port Moody
- Abbotsford
- Aggasiz
- Chilliwack
- Cloverdale
- Maple Ridge
- New Westminster
- Mission

… and more! If you live anywhere in the Vancouver Lower Mainland, there will be a number of fabulous, little-known wedding veneus for you!

We can’t WAIT to help you find the exact right space for your wedding reception (and possibly ceremony, too) — whether it be a funky, crumbling old heritage art gallery in an edgy part of town; a formal, glamorous ballroom setting; or a stunning garden setting that is bursting with brilliant colour just in time for your wedding day!

We hope you find the Vancouver wedding venue of your dreams on our website!
