Your Lower Mainland Wedding Venue: Spring Weddings
As I look out my window right now, I see a bit of snow… and a whole lot of rain falling on top of that snow.
Ah, Vancouver in the winter. It’s pretty sad. And despite all the Christmas hubbub all around, my mind is already turning to spring….
And if you’re planning a Spring Wedding in Vancouver or the Lower Mainland, then you’re likely doing the same! So let’s talk about things you need to remember when you’re booking your Lower Mainland wedding venue:
1. Spring can be COLD in the Lower Mainland.
Don’t get too confident about the weather this Spring. Yes, we all put a lot of stock in this time of year, to get us out of the rainy, cold, sleet and slush-filled months of winter. But don’t forget how slowly the Lower Mainland warms up after all those months of freezing rain…
If you want to hold your Lower Mainland wedding ceremony outdoors, you will definitely need to make it quick, tell guests to wear warm outerwear, possibly provide heat lamps and/or blankets, and DEFINITELY have an indoor back-up plan in case of rain or chilly temperatures.
You might be flushed and excited and not feel the cold Spring air… but your guests will be freezing.
2. Take advantage of the prettiest blooms.
A few things bloom early in the spring, when the weather is still surprisingly cold — like cherry blossoms. Filling your Lower Mainland wedding venue with cherry blossom branches is a spectacular way to add a pretty, charming elegance to your big day.
Also watch for daffodils, early tulips, and early peonies. These can be more affordable in Spring than at other times of year, and can really suit a pretty Spring wedding in the Lower Mainland.
3. Watch out for the Easter Bunny
As with any time of year, you want to make sure you plan your wedding day around holidays. While you may think that having your Spring wedding during the Easter long weekend is a great idea, others will prefer to be attending church services with their families or having easter egg hunts with their kids.
Still others will plan to travel to take advantage of the long weekend — this problem will occur more frequently as spring turns to summer, so make sure to keep holidays and long weekends in mind as you book your Lower Mainland wedding venue.
